The book has been awarded the BREW Seal of Excellence 2024, named BREW Readers' Choice Award 2024-2025 finalist, nominated for the BREW Fiction Book Excellence Award 2025, and received the Spotlyts Story Award 2025

Hatfield 1677 is set during King Philip’s War in 17th-century colonial America. The narrative follows Benjamin Waite and his wife, Martha, as they tackle the challenges of war, cultural conflicts, and personal sacrifices. The story offers perspectives from both colonial and indigenous characters, providing a balanced view of the era's complexities.

About the Author 

Laura C. Rader holds a BA in psychology from San Diego State University, with a minor in history. She taught history and English for thirty years before focusing on historical fiction. Based in North Carolina, she enjoys genealogy, book clubs, walks with her Collie, and visiting her daughter.
